Derwent Valley Wind Band is delighted to be taking part in this year’s Duffield Arts Festival. Together with Ignite UK, a four-part harmony a cappella chorus, we will be bringing the festival weekend to a close with a rousing “Last Night of the Proms” on Sunday 23rd of September. We have an exciting programme for the evening with a mix of contemporary music we know our audience will love, and “Proms” favourites to sing along to, including Land of Hope and Glory, Rule Britannia and Jerusalem.
Ticket are available now from the Duffield Arts Festival Website, www.duffieldartsfestival.com for what promises to be a very special concert.
Date – Sunday 23rd September
Times – 7:30pm-10:00pm
Venue – Ecclesbourne School, Wirksworth Road, Duffield
Derwent Valley Wind Band’s end of term concert was a great success. The band performed a selection of music from original wind band repertoire right up to a selection of hits from the Beach Boys! As a community wind band it has become tradition that at our end of term concert we support a local charity. This year was no exception and the band raised £340 for Derby Stroke Club, a local charity that supports stroke survivors and their carers and which relies heavily on donations to fund a varied programme of speakers, activities and outings. Derby Stroke Club meets fortnightly on Friday afternoons in Derby. For more information contact Steve Adams on 07885 410732.
Derwent Valley Wind Band have been out and about all summer performing across the county and we are looking forward to our next two concerts.
On 27 September we present a Last Night of the Proms concert with Ignite UK as part of the Duffield Arts Festival at Ecclesbourne School and 10 November we are performing a concert to commemorate WW1 with Duffield Singers.
